Tesco Meal Deal Prices Go Up Today, Here’s What You’ll Pay
From today, Tesco has increased the cost of its much-loved Tesco meal deals, leaving shoppers paying more for their lunchtime favourite.
Customers with a Clubcard will now pay £3.85, while those without face a higher price of £4.25. The change comes less than a year after the supermarket’s last hike, when the Clubcard price rose from £3.40 to £3.60.
Sainsbury’s has already joined in with a rise of its own, pushing its meal deal to £3.95.
A spokesperson defended the increase, stressing that the offer still gives strong value: “Our meal deal remains great value and the ideal way to grab lunch on-the-go at just £3.85 for a main, snack and drink when bought with a Clubcard.”
“With more than 20 million possible combinations, the Tesco meal deal has got something for every taste, from a classic Chicken Club Sandwich to Tesco Korean Style Chicken Dragon Rolls.”
How do rivals compare?
- Waitrose has the priciest deal at £5.
- Morrisons charges £4, but loyalty members pay less at £3.50.
- Co-op matches Morrisons’ non-member price at £4.
- Asda doesn’t have a set price, instead, it runs a 3-for-2 offer, giving the cheapest item free.
The creeping rise of supermarket meal deal prices is a clear sign of ongoing food cost pressures across the UK. What once felt like a bargain £3 lunch is now pushing towards £5 in some stores.
Even so, millions of office workers and students still rely on Tesco meal deals for a fast, affordable lunch on busy days.
For many regulars, the change lands alongside other frustrations. Recently, Tesco shoppers were also hit by a Clubcard points error, which saw some customers missing out on loyalty rewards. Together, these issues highlight growing tension around the true value of supermarket “deals.”
