Police Hunt Trio of Teenage Girls Suspected in Separate Assaults on Pensioners

Two elderly passengers were violently assaulted in separate, chilling incidents on the same evening aboard trains departing from London Bridge. British Transport Police are now urgently appealing for witnesses and information.

First Attack: Man Assaulted on Southeastern Train

The first assault took place around 9.30pm on Tuesday, March 18. A pensioner travelling on a Southeastern service from London Bridge to Woolwich Arsenal was targeted by a group of three teenage girls.

The unprovoked attack occurred mid-journey, leaving the elderly man shaken and injured. Authorities believe this was a deliberate act carried out by the trio.

Second Incident: Elderly Woman and Bystander Targeted

Just 90 minutes later, at approximately 11pm, another disturbing incident unfolded. An elderly woman on a train headed to Erith from London Bridge was approached by a teenage girl who launched an attack.

A second woman stepped in to intervene—but she too became a target, as the same assailant allegedly attempted to strike her as well. Police believe the same group of teenage girls was involved in both attacks.

Description of Suspects

Witnesses have provided detailed descriptions of the girls thought to be responsible:

  • One of the girls wore a pink top beneath a black parka with a fluffy hood.
  • Another suspect was seen in a black jacket featuring a red logo on the right arm, matched with grey trousers and black shoes.

British Transport Police are urging the public to come forward with any information that could assist the investigation.

A spokesperson said: “Anyone who recognises them should contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 770 of March 18.”

Alternatively, anonymous reports can be made via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

The nature of the attacks has left the local community concerned about safety on public transport, especially for vulnerable passengers. The apparent randomness of the assaults and the involvement of teenage girls have added to public unease.

With investigations ongoing, authorities are hopeful that members of the public will come forward with key information to help identify the suspects. The back-to-back attacks serve as a sobering reminder of the importance of vigilance while commuting.

Police are determined to track down those responsible and bring justice to the victims.
