Carlos Alcaraz Responds to Donald Trump’s Return to US Open Final
Carlos Alcaraz has reflected on former President Donald Trump’s forthcoming attendance at the US Open men’s mates final, listed for Sunday at Arthur Ashe Stadium. Trump’s appearance marks his first at the event since 2015.
Alcaraz, who secured his spot in the final by defeating Novak Djokovic in straight sets, was asked about the significance of Trump’s presence.
He remarked: “Well, I think that it is a privilege for the tournaments to have the president from every country just to support the tournament and to support tennis and to support the match.”
The 22- time-old Spaniard added that while he recognises the significance of such an occasion, he intends to remain focused on his game.
He explained: “For me, playing in front of him, to be honest, I will try not to be focused on that and think about it.
I don’t want myself to be nervous because of it. But attending the tennis match is great for tennis to have the president at the final.”

Trump’s return to the US Open comes after a decade-long hiatus. His last appearance was during the 2015 quarter-final between Venus and Serena Williams, when he faced criticism from the crowd due to his political statements. This year, he will attend as a guest in a private suite.
The final will see Alcaraz face Italian star Jannik Sinner, marking their third successive Grand Slam final clash.
Both players have been in exceptional form, with Alcaraz aiming for his sixth major title and the wrongdoer seeking his fifth.
The match is anticipated to be a thrilling contest between two of tennis’s brightest talents.
As the event concludes, all eyes will be on the final showdown, with the added conspiracy of Trump’s presence adding another subcaste to a formerly witching narrative.
