Sir Tom Jones Cancels Bremen Gig After Sudden Illness Hits
Sir Tom Jones has been forced to pull out of his scheduled performance in Bremen after falling ill just hours before he was set to take the stage.
The 85-year-old Welsh legend, known globally for timeless hits like Delilah and It’s Not Unusual, revealed on Tuesday evening that he’s been struck down with an upper respiratory infection, forcing an abrupt postponement of the show.
Posting to Instagram, the veteran singer addressed his fans directly: “Hello to all the fans in Bremen. Unfortunately, I must postpone my show this evening, as I’ve contracted an upper respiratory infection that needs treatment and rest.
“I know this is really disappointing and will cause inconvenience to you all, and I’m very sorry about that. “But the show will now go ahead on Monday, 28th July, so I look forward to seeing you then.
“All tickets will remain valid for the rescheduled date. Until then, thank you for your understanding. Love, Tom.” Fans quickly flooded the comments section with heartfelt wishes for his recovery.
This marks a rare hiccup in what’s been a packed summer schedule. Sir Tom is currently midway through his UK and European tour, which kicked off on 13 June at the stunning Hampton Court Palace in Surrey.
With further stops scheduled in Dundee, Marbella, and Colchester, the tour is set to wrap up in style with a pair of homecoming performances at Cardiff Castle later this August.
Despite the setback, the energy behind the tour remains high. And with the Bremen show now rescheduled, loyal fans have another chance to catch the music icon live.
Sir Tom’s musical legacy stretches across decades. Knighted in 2006 by the late Queen Elizabeth II, he’s no stranger to accolades, from a Grammy win to the Outstanding Contribution to Music Brit Award in 2003, and the Silver Clef Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014.
Beyond the stage, the singer continues to mentor rising talents as a long-standing coach on The Voice UK, sharing the panel with Will.i.am and McFly’s Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones. The next season will also see Kelly Rowland joining the show, bringing fresh energy to the lineup.
For now, the focus is on rest and recovery. But fans can be assured, Sir Tom isn’t bowing out just yet. He’ll be back, stronger than ever.
