The outcome represents a major boost for the government, which is keen to maintain independence from Moscow’s influence.
With over 99% of votes counted, the Party of Action and Solidarity(PAS ) has claimed 49.99%, while the nationalistic Bloc, known for its pro-Russian stance, trails at 24.28%.

Judges say PAS looks poised to achieve the 101-seat majority demanded to govern without forming a fragile coalition, keeping Moldova’s long-term EU intentions on track.
Other parties likely to enter congress include the Alternative Bloc, seen as negligibly pro-European, and the populist Our Party, with roughly 8% and 6.2% percent of the vote, respectively. A full functionary census is anticipated latterly moment.
Acrimonious Election Build-Up
The election campaign was far from smooth. PAS leaders have described the vote as “the most consequential since Moldova’s independence,” yet both sides faced accusations of misconduct in the lead-up to polling.
President Maia Sandu’s government warned of Russian attempts to influence the vote through disinformation campaigns and vote-buying.
“Election infrastructure and government websites had come under cyber attack, and fake bomb threats were called in to polling stations in Moldova and abroad,” said Sandu’s national security adviser, Stanislav Secrieru.
Moscow has denied snooping. Meanwhile, nationalistic Blocco-leader Igor Dodon, a former Moldovan chairman, called for demonstrations outside the congress, claiming that Sandu planned to annul the vote.
“He did not provide evidence,” spectators note, leaving authorities cautious of any uneasiness.
In the days before polling, election officers barred two pro-Russian parties from running due to contested illegal backing, further heightening pressures.
Moldova Pulled Between East and West
Moldova, a former Soviet democracy with a population of 2.4 million, has long been caught between Russian influence and European integration.
The war in neighbouring Ukraine, energy dearths, and financial strains have boosted political divisions. Opposition parties tried to work on naming frustration over rising inflation, presently around 7%, and high energy costs.
Yet the stronger-than-anticipated caching by PAS demonstrates that a clear maturity of Moldovans continues to support a pro-European platform aimed at breaking down from Russian influence.
Authorities remain on alert for possible post-election uneasiness, particularly from pro-Russian groups displeased with the outcome.
