July 2025 benefits dates are crucial for millions across the UK relying on DWP-administered support to manage the cost of living. With around 24 million people using some form of benefit, knowing the payment timeline can provide vital peace of mind.

Payment Dates for July 2025

Most benefits—including Universal Credit, State Pension, Child Benefit, PIP, DLA, Attendance Allowance, Carer’s Allowance, ESA and more—will be paid as usual this month, since there are no bank holidays in July.

State Pension Dates by NI Number

Your state pension is issued every four weeks, based on the final two digits of your National Insurance number:

  • 00–19: Monday
  • 20–39: Tuesday
  • 40–59: Wednesday
  • 60–79: Thursday
  • 80–99: Friday

Benefit Uplifts & Adjustments

In April, all working-age benefits—Universal Credit, PIP, DLA, ESA—were increased by 1.7%, aligned with September 2024 inflation figures. Meanwhile, thanks to the triple-lock, the state pension rose by 4.1%, adding £472 annually.

Looking ahead to next year, planned changes include:

  • April 2026: One-off above-inflation rise of £7/week (£91 → £98).
  • Health element frozen at £97/week until 2029/30.
  • New health element claims after April 2026 capped at £50/week.

Additional Cost‑of‑Living Support

Budgeting Advance Loans

Universal Credit claimants can access an interest-free loan, repaid over 2 years automatically:

  • £348 for individuals
  • £464 per couple
  • £812 with a child

From April 2025, benefit deductions for repayment will be capped at 15% of the UC standard allowance (down from 25%).

Discretionary Housing Payment (DHP)

Top-up support for renters eligible for Housing Benefit or UC housing element. Council-administered—apply locally for help with rent shortfalls, deposits or advance rent.

Household Support Fund (HSF)

Running until March 2026, this funding helps households with essentials—appliances, bills, and cash payments up to £300. Varies by council; applications via the local authority.

Charitable Grants & Council Tax Reductions

Charities like Turn2us offer grants for various needs (disability, carers, bereavement). Councils may provide up to 100% council tax relief or discretionary reductions for those in extreme hardship.

Energy Provider Relief & Free Childcare

Major energy suppliers often offer bill assistance to struggling customers. Working parents can benefit from up to 30 hours of free childcare for under-fives, with tax-free childcare support included—more on this below.

Energy Price Cap

From July to September, Ofgem’s cap will fall from £1,849 to £1,720—around a 7% decrease in average annual energy costs for standard variable tariffs.

Mental Health & Emotional Support

For those under financial stress:

  • Samaritans: 24/7, free call 116 123 or email [email protected]
  • Mind: Helpline 0300 102 1234; info 0300 123 3393; welfare benefits line 0300 222 5782
  • Scope: Online peer support forum
  • NHS England: Online mental health triage available

Key Takeaway

  • July 2025 benefit & pension payments are on schedule.
  • Uplifts in April have helped, but inflation remains a challenge.
  • Significant support exists—from loans and housing help to charity grants and energy relief.
  • Act early: claim what you’re entitled to now.

Ensure you apply for all available support—every £ counts.
