Londoners are bracing for a weekend of travel disruption as Transport for London( TfL) confirms a surge of Tube and Overground line closures for planned conservation and form work.
With several routes affected, passengers are being prompted to plan ahead and check before they travel to avoid getting caught out.
The weekend of Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 November will see crucial lines, including the Metropolitan, Northern, and corridor of Overground Corridor, out of service for varying periods.
Metropolitan Line Woes Continue
The Metropolitan line remains closed between Aldgate and Baker Street following an ongoing track fault. The issue first appeared in late October, and while masterminds have been working around the timepiece, the route won’t renew until Sunday, 9 November.
A TfL spokesperson confirmed: “The Metropolitan line between Aldgate and Baker Street will be shut until Sunday.
Until then, change at Baker Street for Bakerloo, Circle and Hammersmith & City line services into central London, or use the Jubilee line from either Finchley Road or Baker Street.”

Angel Station to Shut for the Weekend
In Islington, Angel Tube station will be closed on both Saturday and Sunday for critical infrastructure improvements. Travellers are advised to use King’s Cross St Pancras, then either walk to Angel or hop on local bus routes 205 or 214.
TfL said: “Angel station will shut on both Saturday and Sunday for infrastructure work. Use Northern line services from King’s Cross St. Pancras station. From there, walk or use local bus routes 205 or 214 between King’s Cross and Angel.”
Overground Disruptions Hit West and North London
Network Rail track works are also causing closures across parts of the Overground network, affecting several branches this weekend:
- Mildmay line: No trains between Willesden Junction and Clapham Junction on Sunday. Passengers are advised to use local bus services.
- Lioness line: No service between Willesden Junction and Watford Junction until 7.45am on Sunday. TfL recommends local bus routes or the temporary 718 bus service.
- Weaver line: Trains won’t run between Liverpool Street and Enfield Town, Cheshunt, or Chingford until 10.15am on Sunday due to track upgrades.
Other Tube Lines Affected
- Bakerloo line: No service between Stonebridge Park and Harrow & Wealdstone until 7.45am Sunday. Replacement buses, including route 718, will be operating.
- Elizabeth line: Services between Paddington and Maidenhead/Heathrow T4 will run on a reduced timetable due to ongoing maintenance.
