A lucky saver from Central Bedfordshire has struck gold in the August 2025 Premium Bonds prize draw, becoming an overnight millionaire with just £7,000 invested. The winning bond number, 148YD123622, was purchased back in December 2008.
Joining them in the millionaires’ club is another fortunate winner based outside the UK. This overseas bondholder secured their £1 million prize with bond number 205XQ030808, purchased in May 2013. Both winners will have received a personal visit from NS&I’s famed Agent Million.
“Our Central Bedfordshire winner shows that you don’t need to have the full amount invested to win big, as every £1 Bond has an equal chance of winning the £1 million jackpot.
And remember, if you’re moving abroad and want to keep your Premium Bonds, you still need to have a UK bank account,” said Andrew Westhead, NS&I’s Retail Director.
This month’s prize draw demonstrates yet again that even modest investments can yield extraordinary results. One standout case: a saver in West Scotland with just £750 in Premium Bonds managed to clinch a £100,000 prize.
From £750 to £100,000 – West Scotland saver proves you don’t need a fortune to win one.
Premium Bonds continue to entice millions across the country, offering not just savings but the tantalising chance of a big win. August’s draw saw more than six million prizes distributed, amounting to a total payout of £396 million.

Check if You’ve Won
The updated prize checker will go live on 2 August 2025. NS&I reminds bondholders that winners are notified, but if your contact details are outdated or you’ve moved house, you might miss out. It’s worth logging in and checking manually.
Currently, there are 2,615,187 unclaimed prizes, totalling over £105 million. Some of these prizes have remained unclaimed for years.
Odds and Eligibility
The chance of winning remains at 1 in 22,000 per £1 Bond each month. While those with larger holdings naturally have more chances, this month’s results confirm that luck plays just as strong a role as investment size.
So, whether you hold £50 or £50,000 in Premium Bonds, there’s always a chance your number could be next.
