McDonald’s Tragedy: Worker Posted Angry Instagram Rant Before Fatally Stabbing Manager
In a shocking turn of events, a McDonald’s outlet in Eastpointe, Michigan, became the scene of a brutal killing, just one day after a chilling social media post.
Afeni Muhammad, 26, now stands accused of stabbing her manager, 39-year-old Jennifer Harris, to death. The fatal attack, which occurred last Thursday, followed an explosive Instagram video where Muhammad vented frustrations about her treatment at work.
“I got sent home early yesterday. I got sent home early today by the same person,” Muhammad said in the video.
“I’m telling you, she’s a bully. This sh** isn’t funny…”
“She needs to understand that just because she’s a mother and got children, that doesn’t mean she can come in the store disrespecting people, talking like everybody is beneath her. She has no respect and it isn’t funny at all.
“She keeps sending me home early, it’s not funny,” she continued, describing her manager’s behaviour as toxic and gossipy.
“Then she tell me I am snapping on people. No, no, no, that’s false, I don’t snap on people. I don’t go doing that. No, I make peace. I’ve been creating peace.”
That video would become a grim prelude.
Police say Harris had once again sent Muhammad home early following a heated exchange. But this time, Muhammad didn’t just leave. She walked out to her car, retrieved a kitchen knife, and returned to confront her manager.
Then she attacked.
Witnesses reported that Muhammad stabbed Harris repeatedly — up to 15 times, according to the assistant prosecutor. A stunned customer in the drive-thru even fired a gunshot into the air in a desperate attempt to halt the violence.
“She produced a weapon that was a knife longer than 3 inches, and she stabbed the victim multiple times, up to possibly as many as 15 times, eventually causing her death,” said Assistant Prosecutor Hengeveld during Friday’s arraignment.
After the stabbing, Muhammad reportedly tried to flee the scene. She didn’t get far. The same customer who fired the shot managed to detain her until police arrived.
She was arrested and formally charged with first-degree murder. Muhammad is now being held on a $25 million bond.
The incident has left the local community reeling. Employees and residents alike are stunned by the sudden, horrific escalation of workplace tension.
While McDonald’s has recently made headlines for its promotional campaigns like side missions offering free food and cash prizes, this tragedy draws a sharp contrast to the brand’s usual spotlight and highlights the darker pressures within some store environments.
Eastpointe police are continuing their investigation, but one thing is clear: a workplace dispute spiralled into something far darker, and no one saw it coming.
As this case unfolds, serious questions remain about mental health support, conflict resolution, and the safety of workers in high-pressure environments.
