Severe M6 Traffic Delays After Crash in Leyland
Drivers on the M6 southbound are facing heavy disruption this afternoon following a crash between Leyland and Standish.
The incident happened between junction 28 (Leyland Way) and junction 27 (Crow Orchard Road), bringing traffic to a complete standstill.
According to travel service Inrix, “All traffic being temporarily held due to an accident on M6 Southbound from J28 B5256 Leyland Way (Leyland) to J27 A5209 Crow Orchard Road (Standish).”
Queues are building quickly. Frustrated motorists are reporting long waits, with some moving at little more than walking pace.
AA Traffic and Travel warned that congestion is worsening. “Severe delays of 14 minutes and delays increasing on M6 Southbound between J28 B5256 Leyland Way (Leyland) and M6 (Charnock Richard Services). Average speed five mph,” a spokesperson said.
The crash has left many travellers stuck in tailbacks stretching several miles. Emergency services are on the scene, but the cause of the collision has not yet been confirmed.
