Fans were quick to celebrate alongside the stars. According to Variety, the Kpop Demon Hunters soundtrack recently claimed a second non-consecutive week at No. 1.
The animated film first hit screens on 20 June and rapidly became a streaming sensation. By late August, it had overtaken Red Notice as the platform’s most-watched movie of all time, racking up an astonishing 236 million views.
Directed by Chris Appelhans and Maggie Kang, the film tells the story of “a K-pop supergroup who needs to balance their lives as world-famous pop stars with their secret side hustle as demon slayers,” according to the official synopsis.
Golden, the name track from the soundtrack, has also made music history by beating the Hot 100 for a fifth successive week, a feat infrequently seen in the industry.
The combination of catchy K-pop beats and a thrilling supernatural plot has made KPop Demon nimrods a transnational sensation, with suckers eagerly anticipating the coming chapter.
