In a dramatic turn of events, former President Donald Trump has directed Attorney General Pam Bondi to petition the court for the unsealing of Jeffrey Epstein grand jury transcripts, aiming to silence growing criticism from within his political base.
The announcement, made late Thursday on Trump’s social platform Truth Social, followed a surge in media scrutiny over alleged ties between Trump and Epstein.
Trump wrote, “Based on the ridiculous amount of publicity given to Jeffrey Epstein,” he had asked Bondi to “produce any and all pertinent Grand Jury testimony, subject to Court approval.”
He didn’t stop there. “This SCAM, perpetuated by the Democrats, should end, right now!” he declared, igniting yet another social media storm.
Shortly after, Bondi confirmed her readiness to act: “President Trump — we are ready to move the court tomorrow to unseal the grand jury transcripts.”
This bold move comes on the heels of a Wall Street Journal report suggesting Trump had once written a bizarre birthday letter to Epstein. The letter, reportedly featuring a lewd sketch and the line “may every day be another wonderful secret,” sparked outrage.
That particular allegation has reignited public interest. A recent report takes a closer look at the note in question, the timing of its release, and how it’s feeding wider suspicions around their connection. Explore how Trump is being tied to Epstein through a controversial birthday message.
Trump was quick to reject the claim. He insisted it was fabricated, labelling the letter “FAKE” and adding, “These are not my words, not the way I talk. Also, I don’t draw pictures.”
He’s now threatening legal action against the WSJ, News Corp, and media mogul Rupert Murdoch. None of the accused parties have commented on the matter.
Within Trump’s own Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement, pressure is building. Questions about Epstein’s death and his notorious “client list” have fuelled conspiracy theories since the disgraced financier was found dead in jail in 2019.
Back in February, Bondi claimed the client list was “sitting on my desk right now to review.” But just last week, the Department of Justice and the FBI issued a two-page memo refuting those claims.
It stated there was “no client list” and “no credible evidence” that Epstein had blackmailed powerful individuals.
The official cause of death? Suicide. Again. Unsurprisingly, this has not satisfied Trump’s core supporters. Some, including far-right figure Laura Loomer, have publicly criticised Bondi, calling for her removal.
Still, Bondi stands firm. On Tuesday, she said, “As long as the president wants me here and I believe he’s made that crystal clear, it’s four years.”
Whether the unsealing of these transcripts will finally settle public unease—or throw more fuel on the fire—remains to be seen.
