Anton Stach: Leeds United Agree Terms with Hoffenheim Midfielder as Talks Progress
Leeds United have taken a major step forward in their summer rebuild after agreeing personal terms with TSG Hoffenheim’s midfield powerhouse Anton Stach, as revealed by Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg.
The Whites, newly promoted back to the Premier League, are not wasting time. Manager Daniel Farke is pushing hard to reinforce his midfield — and Stach appears to be high on his wishlist.
“Anton Stach has agreed to join them.” However, the deal isn’t done yet. Leeds and Hoffenheim are still locked in negotiations. The German side are reportedly holding firm on their €20 million valuation — add-ons included — for the 26-year-old, who remains under contract until 2027.
Time is ticking. Leeds face stiff competition for Stach’s signature. Clubs from across Europe have expressed serious interest, including Premier League giants Manchester United. But in a surprising twist, it’s Leeds that seem to be in pole position.
“He prefers to join Leeds ahead of them and other suitors.” At 6ft 4in, Stach offers the kind of presence Leeds have missed in midfield. With 122 Bundesliga appearances to his name, he’s no novice. He’s chipped in with five goals and 16 assists during his time at Mainz 05 and Hoffenheim.
His flexibility is another asset. Primarily a central midfielder, Stach can also cover at centre-back or in a holding role. That kind of versatility could prove crucial as Farke looks to establish a squad capable of survival — and perhaps more — in England’s top flight.
“Tackling and ball interception [are] some of his major strengths.” Leeds fans can expect more from the German if the deal crosses the finish line. He’s known for his long-range shooting and sharp distribution. Adaptation to the pace and intensity of the Premier League? Not expected to be a problem.
“He is unlikely to struggle to hit the ground running in the Premier League.”
This potential signing comes as part of an active window for the Elland Road outfit. The arrivals of Lukas Nmecha and Sebastiaan Bornauw from Wolfsburg, Jaka Bijol from Udinese, and Gabriel Gudmundsson from Lille show Leeds mean business. A move for Newcastle’s Sean Longstaff is also reportedly close.
Now, all eyes are on the negotiations with Hoffenheim. Should the clubs find common ground, Stach will become a pivotal part of Farke’s plans in Yorkshire.
