Two teenage boys have been arrested on suspicion of murder following the fatal stabbing of a 14-year-old boy in Manchester. The teenage murder arrest has sent shockwaves through the New Moston community.
Emergency services were called to Nevin Road at approximately 5:00 p.m. on Sunday. Paramedics and an air ambulance responded swiftly to the scene, where the young victim was found with multiple stab wounds. Despite efforts to save him, he later died in hospital, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed.
A 14-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy have been arrested on suspicion of murder. Additionally, a 14-year-old girl and a 37-year-old woman were detained on suspicion of assisting an offender. All four remain in police custody as detectives continue their inquiries.
A spokesperson for GMP described the event as a “distressing and heartbreaking incident [in which] a boy has lost his life.” The force confirmed that “extensive resources” have been deployed to the investigation.
Detective Chief Inspector John Charlton stated that the killing has deeply impacted the local area.
“We are deploying significant resources to this murder investigation, and this has led to quickly identifying potential suspects. We are still trying to establish the full circumstances around the incident,” he said.
Charlton added that there will be a “large police presence” in the area as the probe continues.
“The boy’s family are being supported by our officers, and we are determined to give them the answers they deserve.”
GMP has issued a public appeal for any information, doorbell or dashcam footage, or eyewitness accounts from residents or passers-by in the Nevin Road area at the time of the stabbing.
