Drew McIntyre Drama Intensifies Ahead of WWE SummerSlam – Legal Action Underway
With just days to go before WWE’s SummerSlam extravaganza, fresh drama surrounding Drew McIntyre has thrown the company’s plans into disarray, and legal teams are now involved.
The Scottish star, who is slated to team with Logan Paul against Jelly Roll and Randy Orton at the first night of the highly anticipated two-night event, remains stranded in the UK due to a passport dispute.
The situation, initially brushed off as a minor hiccup, has now escalated into a major headache for WWE brass.
Originally, McIntyre travelled to England following last Friday’s SmackDown for a close friend’s wedding. But after posting on X that passport troubles had left him stuck across the pond, things began spiralling.
“Jelly Roll pulled some strings to keep me here. He’ll regret it. That’s a promise,” McIntyre wrote. The post, though half-joking in tone, hinted at behind-the-scenes frustrations.
At first, WWE officials remained optimistic, believing the issue would be resolved swiftly. But now, with the clock ticking, confidence appears to be fading.
WWE’s creative team has begun drafting contingency plans, with backup ideas in motion should McIntyre be unable to make Friday’s go-home SmackDown in Newark, New Jersey, the last major stop before SummerSlam kicks off at MetLife Stadium on Saturday.
In a surprising twist, The Miz threw his name into the mix earlier today. He offered to step in for McIntyre, fuelling speculation that plans may already be shifting.
With Miz and Paul sharing a dramatic history, from teaming up at WrestleMania 38 to a fierce rivalry that spanned months, a reunion could make sense if McIntyre’s status doesn’t change.
However, all hope isn’t lost. Veteran wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer reports that WWE’s legal team is now actively working to get McIntyre back on U.S. soil.
Apparently, McIntyre brought only his UK passport with him. But local authorities denied his departure from the UK, citing his current U.S. residency as a complication. A bureaucratic mess, right before one of WWE’s biggest weekends of the year.
The 38th edition of SummerSlam was already packed with big names and wild storylines. This McIntyre passport saga adds yet another unpredictable layer. Whether he arrives in time or not, WWE fans are in for an unexpected ride.
