UK Reality Star Yasmin Pettet Reveals Tragic Loss of Beloved Cat Miaow Miaow While on Love Island
It’s the kind of news that hits hard, especially for animal lovers. Yasmin Pettet, fresh off the latest season of Love Island, has shared a deeply personal and heartbreaking update.
While the rest of the UK watched her form a bond with Jamie and become known for her sharp wit and strong opinions, Yasmin was unknowingly going through the early stages of a quiet tragedy at home.
Her cherished cat, Miaow Miaow, a constant companion for over a decade, sadly passed away while Yasmin was still filming the show.
In a touching message to fans, Yasmin said: “As I’ve spoken about her on the show, I’m sure a lot of you will know I have a cat called Miaow Miaow who’s been by my side for 11 years now.
When I was filming Love Island, I had a bad gut feeling something was off, and when my mum and sister came into the villa, I asked them and still felt like something was off.
Rightfully, they didn’t tell me because I was still in the villa, but after the finale, I called my sister and she told me that Miaow Miaow had cancer and died whilst I was away filming Love Island.
I’m trying to be as active as I can be on socials, but am taking time for myself to process this heartbreak. RIP to my beautiful baby girl, you were so loved and will always be in my soul.”
Miaow Miaow wasn’t just a pet. She was family. Yasmin often spoke about her during the show, even referencing the cat during the baby challenge task, saying she didn’t feel ready for children because her cat was already her baby.
Fans will recall those heartfelt conversations between Yasmin and Jamie, where they chatted excitedly about introducing their cats to one another after the show.
But for Yasmin, returning home meant confronting a reality she wasn’t prepared for. She only just regained access to her phone after leaving the villa, a time when many Islanders are overwhelmed with the noise of social media and newfound fame. Amidst all that chaos, Yasmin was quietly grieving.
And yet, she still made time to speak to her followers, to honour Miaow Miaow and to explain her silence.
Her words have resonated with many. Fans have poured in messages of support, sharing their own stories of pet loss and sending strength to the reality star.
“RIP to my beautiful baby girl,” Yasmin wrote. “You were so loved and will always be in my soul.”
There’s no doubt Miaow Miaow left a paw-shaped mark on her heart.
