Weather Alert: Birmingham Braces for 30C Heatwave as Summer Heat Returns
Summer isn’t over just yet. Weather maps have pinpointed the exact date Birmingham could be sizzling once again, Thursday, 7 August. Temperatures are expected to hit 30C, turning the charts across England a fiery red.
After a brief break from the scorching conditions brought by three previous heatwaves, the city looks set for another burst of heat. While forecasters aren’t calling it an official heatwave just yet, residents should prepare for the return of high summer temperatures.
Meteorologists from WX Charts have flagged 7 August as the day to watch. That Thursday could see large parts of England, including the West Midlands, bathing in peak summer heat.
The Met Office, in its long-range outlook covering 4 to 13 August, offered a mixed bag of possibilities.
“Early next week, there is the potential for an unseasonably deep area of low pressure to affect the UK, which would bring widely windy and wet weather, especially for the west or northwest of the UK.
“The forecast around this is rather uncertain, however, and it is also possible that this will turn into a less windy but still wet spell further south.
“Following this, a continuation of the broadly changeable pattern is expected, with spells of rain or showers, some drier, brighter interludes, and temperatures mainly near average.
“As we move towards mid-month, there is an increased chance of high pressure becoming more dominant, leading to drier, warmer and more settled conditions becoming more widespread.”
So, while the UK might face a turbulent start to August, with downpours and gusty winds, sunseekers can stay hopeful. There’s a clear hint of high pressure building by mid-month, and that means warmer, calmer days could soon sweep across the country.
Notably, 20 counties across England are tipped to swelter in the heat, with forecasts suggesting some areas could even nudge 31C.
As always, Brits are advised to stay hydrated, use sun protection, and check on vulnerable neighbours during extreme heat. And yes, it might just be time to dig those fans out of storage.
For now, mark your calendars: August 7 could be a scorcher.
