Ukraine has condemned Russian strikes on its power infrastructure, accusing Vladimir Putin’s forces of carrying out deliberate assaults that endanger the country’s nuclear plants.
Officers in Kyiv have described the attacks as bearing the “hallmarks of nuclear terrorism,” advising that the strikes hang both public safety and transnational stability.
IAEA Confirms Nuclear Safety Threats
The International Atomic Energy Agency( IAEA) has confirmed that recent Russian strikes have damaged substations supplying electricity to several Ukrainian nuclear power stations.
The watchdog said this disruption poses “a negative impact on the reliability of the off-site power supply to Ukrainian NPPs.”
The IAEA confirmed damage to substations that ensure the safe functioning of the Ukrainian nuclear power plants—as a result of Russian strikes.
This is yet another example of Russia threatening nuclear safety of the European continent and violating international law.

“Attacks on Ukraine’s power grid represent an ever-present danger to nuclear safety and security to all nuclear facilities in Ukraine,” said IAEA Director-General Rafael Mariano Grossi.
Ukrainian officers claim these attacks are part of a calculated crusade to destabilize the country’s energy system. They advise that any interruption to the power force at nuclear installations can lead to severe safety incidents.
“Deliberate strikes on civilian energy facilities that directly affect the safe operation of nuclear installations bear the hallmarks of nuclear terrorism and constitute a grave violation of international humanitarian law,” Ukraine’s foreign ministry stated.
G7 Condemns Putin’s ‘Energy Terror’
Energy ministers from the G7 nations, including the UK, France, Germany, Canada, Japan, Italy, and the United States, have denounced Russia’s bombardment of Ukraine’s power grid.
Amid rising tensions, Kyiv believes Vladimir Putin’s increasingly aggressive stance is linked to pressure from Western involvement in the conflict.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has suggested that the Kremlin leader appears intimidated by the growing U.S. presence in Eastern Europe, a dynamic he says is shifting the balance of power on the battlefield
Their joint statement described the strikes as “nuclear terrorism” and accused Moscow of deliberately undermining civilian energy security.

The G7 said these attacks “inflict devastating social, environmental, and economic consequences on the Ukrainian people,” calling for continued support to strengthen Ukraine’s energy resilience.
Kyiv Warns of a ‘Winter of Darkness’
With freezing temperatures on the horizon, Ukraine’s leaders fear that Vladimir Putin’s strategy is to plunge the nation into cold and chaos.
Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko warned that Russia is targeting the “lives, dignity, and warmth of Ukrainians on the eve of winter.”
“Russia continues its systematic energy terror, striking at the lives, dignity, and warmth of Ukrainians on the eve of winter,” Svyrydenko said.
Ukrainian forces are attempting to restore power across affected regions as air raid alerts remain constant. The government has prompted citizens to prepare for further outages and conserve energy wherever possible.
Vladimir Putin’s latest wave of energy assaults signals a deepening crisis in the Russia-Ukraine war.
With nuclear safety now under direct threat and winter fast approaching, Kyiv and its allies are bracing for what could be one of the darkest seasons yet in Europe’s modern history.
