Flintshire is set to face a wet and windy weekend as Storm Claudia sweeps across Wales and western England from Friday into early Saturday, according to the Met Office.

Residers are being prompted to prepare for implicit flooding, trip dislocation, and power outages.

A unheroic rainfall warning for rain has been issued, pressing the threat of damage to homes, businesses, and original roads. The storm is anticipated to bring prolonged downfall, strong easterly winds, and grueling trip conditions.

Heavy Rainfall and Flooding Risks

The Met Office predicts that most areas in Flintshire will see between 30 and 50 millimetres of rain, with some places potentially receiving 60 to 80 millimetres. East-facing hills in southeast Wales could witness further than 100 millimetres.

“The ground is already saturated following recent wet weather, increasing the risk of both surface water and river flooding,” the Met Office warned. Flooded roads may cut off some communities, and homes and businesses could suffer water damage.

Travel and Power Disruption

Fast-flowing or deep water poses a serious threat to life, and a trip is likely to be affected. Motorists should anticipate road closures, delicate driving conditions, and delays or cancellations to machine and train services. Power cuts and interruptions to other services are also possible in affected areas.

FRIDAY ⚠️#StormClaudia is set to bring a wet & very windy day.

Rain will arrive from the south during the morning & become heavy & persistent.

Winds will become very gusty on the western side of the hills. Feeling cold.

The Met Office advises residents to prepare a flood tide plan and emergency tackle, and check whether their properties are at risk.

trippers should cover road conditions and public transport updates before setting off, while homes are encouraged to gather firebugs, spare batteries, and mobile phone power packs in case of outages.

What You Need to Know About Storm Claudia?

Storm Claudia was named by the Spanish Meteorological Service, and the liability of impacts has increased as the storm moves north. In the corridor of Wales, awaiting advanced downfall summations, amber rainfall warnings have also been issued.

Residents are advised to stay updated with the Met Office and local news, as weather warnings can change at short notice.

Being prepared can make all the difference, whether you live in Flintshire or are travelling through affected areas.
