Nissan Micra Electric Launches in UK with Starting Price of £22,995
The Nissan Micra Electric has officially arrived, with the Japanese automaker announcing a UK starting price of £22,995. Set to hit British roads soon, this all-new electric supermini marks a major step in Nissan’s EV push.
Order books open on 1st September, and interest is already building.
This price point places the Micra Electric directly in line with its close cousin, the Renault 5 E-Tech Electric, which shares the same underpinnings via the AmpR Small platform.
Both start at the exact same price, but Nissan is hoping its unique trim levels and design tweaks will win over UK drivers.
The entry-level ‘Engage’ trim includes a 90 kW motor powered by a 40 kWh battery, delivering a WLTP range of 310 km.
The drivetrain sends power to the front wheels and hits 0–62 mph in 9 seconds. It also supports DC fast charging, allowing a 15–80% charge in just 30 minutes.
For those needing more range and power, the 52 kWh variant delivers 110 kW, extends the range to 408 km, and accelerates faster, just 8 seconds from 0–62 mph. It’s only available from the Advanced and Evolve trims, starting at £26,995 and £29,865, respectively.
Here’s how the pricing breaks down:
- Micra Engage (40 kWh) – £22,995
- Micra Advanced (40 kWh) – £24,995
- Micra Advanced (52 kWh) – £26,995
- Micra Evolve (52 kWh) – £29,865
“Micra is the first of four new fully electric models to arrive on the Nissan line up and we are incredibly excited to be pricing it so competitively,” said James Taylor, Managing Director of Nissan GB.
“Micra is a key strategic model for Nissan, and based on the positive reviews, exciting design, attractive price and a class-leading product, I am looking forward to seeing lots of new Micras on the road soon.”
The Nissan Micra Electric is manufactured in France by Renault. Nissan anticipates it will qualify for the UK Electric Car Grant of £1,500, though official confirmation from the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles is still pending. The current prices don’t include this grant.
While Nissan’s pricing strategy mirrors Renault’s in some ways, the trim and equipment packages differ slightly, offering buyers unique options to suit different preferences.
This UK launch is just the beginning. The Micra is the first of four new EVs expected from Nissan in the coming years. With strong specs, sleek styling, and a sharp price tag, the Micra Electric is poised to become a familiar sight on UK streets.
