Gordon Ramsay Reveals Skin Cancer Treatment and Urges Fans to Protect Their Skin
Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay has disclosed that he recently underwent treatment to remove skin cancer, praising the medical experts who acted swiftly to address his condition.
The 58-year-old culinary star revealed on Instagram that he had a basal cell carcinoma, a common non-melanoma skin cancer, removed.
The Hell’s Kitchen frontman shared: “Grateful and so appreciative for the incredible team at The Skin Associates and their fast reactive work on removing this Basal Cell Carcinoma, thank you.
Please don’t forget your sunscreen this weekend, I promise you it’s not a facelift. I’d need a refund.”
Messages of support quickly poured in. TV personality Robert Rinder left a heart emoji, while Cancer Research UK responded with a message of encouragement, adding: “Glad to hear you’re doing well, Gordon, and thanks for raising awareness of how important it is to stay safe in the sun. Seek shade, cover up, and apply sunscreen regularly and generously.”

What is Basal Cell Carcinoma?
According to the NHS, basal cell carcinoma is the most common form of skin cancer in the UK. It typically develops in the upper layer of the skin, often caused by prolonged exposure to ultraviolet light, whether from natural sunlight or sunbeds.
Symptoms can appear as a new growth, sore, or unusual patch on the skin. The condition is most likely to develop in sun-exposed areas such as the face, scalp, back, shoulders, hands, and legs.
Ramsay’s candid revelation doubles as a reminder. A man known for his fiery temper in the kitchen has shown a softer side—urging fans to take sun safety seriously. His light-hearted quip about a “face lift refund” masked a serious message: sunscreen isn’t optional.
Beyond his health update, Gordon Ramsay remains a towering figure in the culinary world. From Kitchen Nightmares to ITV’s Gordon, Gino and Fred: Road Trip, his television presence is as fierce as his Michelin-star record.
His Gordon Ramsay Restaurants group has collected 17 Michelin stars over the years, with eight still held today.
Away from the kitchen, Ramsay is a father of six with his wife, Tana. His daughter, Tilly, has followed in his footsteps in the entertainment world, even competing on Strictly Come Dancing in 2021.
Ramsay’s honesty about his diagnosis and treatment shines a spotlight on a condition affecting thousands in Britain every year. His message is clear: don’t take the sun lightly.
As he recovers, the nation is reminded that even those used to the heat of the kitchen need protection from the heat of the sun.
