Donald Trump Endorses Alaska–Russia Tunnel as Zelensky Faces Setback Over US Missiles
In a fresh twist to global power politics, former US President Donald Trump has thrown his weight behind an ambitious plan to construct a rail and transport tunnel linking Alaska and Russia, while urging an end to the ongoing war in Ukraine.
Speaking in characteristically direct terms, Trump criticized Kyiv’s wartime approach and hinted that Washington’s continued military support could soon dry up.
“It’s time for peace, not missiles,” Trump declared, adding that he believed diplomacy was the only way forward.
Trump: “A tunnel from Russia to Alaska. What do you think about that, Mr. President?”
Zelensky: “I am not happy with that.”
Trump: “I don’t think he liked it.”

For Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the timing couldn’t have been worse. His hopes of obtaining advanced US ‘Tomahawk’ missiles were effectively dashed following Trump’s comments.
The move left Kyiv scrambling to reassess its strategy as frustration brews over dwindling Western backing.
“We expected more understanding from our allies,” Zelensky was quoted as saying earlier this week, signaling the growing strain in relations.
Earlier this month, Zelensky even met Trump to discuss peace talks with Putin, highlighting the delicate diplomacy at play during their US meeting.
Meanwhile, Moscow’s proposed Alaska–Russia rail tunnel has gained fresh attention, particularly after Trump voiced support for what he described as a “monumental project of cooperation.”
The ambitious plan, frequently dismissed as a fantasy, would physically connect the mainlands via the Bering Strait, emblematizing what some see as an implicit thaw in East–West relations.
Interestingly, Elon Musk, known for his bold structure gambles, has so far remained silent on the offer, despite interest in possible private-sector involvement.
Global requests appeared largely unfazed by the political turbulence. Wall Street indicators climbed modestly as investors shifted focus toward stabilizing US–China trade accommodations.
Meanwhile, gold prices slipped, marking a minor retreat after weeks of steady gains, while oil painting held its establishment amid conservative sanguinity.
Judges suggest Trump’s reanimated influence could reshape Washington’s foreign posture, especially if he returns to the White House.
His countersign of cross-border cooperation between Russia and the US, two nations presently navigating frosty political waters, underscores his unconventional approach to global tactfulness.
As pressures poach and alliances shift, Trump’s reflections have once again placed him at the center of transnational debate.
Whether his vision for peace and connectivity prevails remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: when Donald Trump speaks, the world listens.
