Three Big Overreactions After Dolphins’ Gritty Win Over Jets

The Miami Dolphins eventually have their first palm of the 2025 NFL season. On Monday night, under the lights at Hard Rock Stadium, Miami edged once AFC East rivals, the New York Spurts, with a tense 27- 21 win.

But the celebration came at a steep cost. Star wide receiver Tyreek Hill left the field with what head coach Mike McDaniel later confirmed as a dislocated knee.

“This often comes with multiple ligament tears and will likely cost Hill the remainder of this 2025 season,” McDaniel admitted after the game.

It was a bruising night for Miami. The win mattered. But Hill’s injury overshadowed everything.

And, as is tradition in the NFL, fans and pundits were quick to go into full-blown reaction mode. Here are three of the loudest overreactions shaking up the conversation.

1. Season Over Before It Even Began?

Some Dolphins fans had already written off the season before Week Four even kicked off. Now, with Hill possibly out until next year, the cries of doom are deafening.

His presence on the field forced every defence to adjust. Without him, Miami’s offence loses its spark, its fear factor, its lightning strike potential.

For a team starting the season 0-3, losing Hill is a nightmare. Playoff dreams? Many say they’re finished. Maybe. Maybe not.

But there’s no denying the mountain just got a lot steeper.

2. De’Von Achane Steps Into the Spotlight

Yet, amid the gloom, there was a flicker of hope. Rookie running back De’Von Achane looked electric.

Achane didn’t quite crack 100 yards, but his 99 rushing yards on 20 carries, capped by a third-quarter nine-yard touchdown, were enough to give Miami breathing space.

He’s been showing promise in the passing game, too, with 92 receiving yards back in Week Two against the Patriots.

Now, with Hill sidelined, Achane’s role could explode. More carries. More responsibility. More chances to prove he’s the spark Miami desperately needs.

3. Turnover Troubles Finally Fixed

Here’s a stat worth celebrating: Miami entered the night minus-five in turnover margin, without a single takeaway.

Against the Jets, they flipped the script completely, three takeaways, zero turnovers. That’s the kind of football that wins games in the NFL.

Next up, the Miami Dolphins hit the road to face the 1-3 Carolina Panthers, then the Cleveland Browns after a trip to Los Angeles to meet the Chargers. Handle business against those struggling sides, and this season might not be dead after all.

Yes, Hill’s injury is brutal. Yes, the road ahead is harsh. But Miami’s defence finally took the ball away.
