Caroline Flack’s heartbreaking final voice notes and texts have been released for the first time in a powerful new Disney+ documentary.

The former Love Island host, who tragically took her own life in February 2020, aged 40, expressed in her messages that she “couldn’t see any way out” as she battled the pressures surrounding her legal troubles.

Flack had been awaiting trial for an alleged assault on her boyfriend at the time of her death. A coroner later concluded that her mental health had sharply declined following her arrest. During the inquest, it was revealed she had been “hounded” by sections of the media.

Now, with her family’s permission, Caroline’s desperate final communications have been made public.

In the documentary Caroline Flack: The Search for the Truth, her mother Christine retraces her daughter’s final weeks.

The trailer features a haunting moment where Caroline admits: “I’m just really going all over the place, my head doesn’t know what to think at any point.”

Christine says the phone messages tell the “real story” of what Caroline endured. One message from the TV presenter reads: “I feel the lowest I’ve ever felt, I don’t see any way out of this.”

Speaking on why she wanted to share her daughter’s story, Christine states: “I’ve got nothing to lose. The worst thing in the world has happened. My daughter has died. As a parent, we think our children are always gonna be there. I want justice for my daughter.”

The trailer also includes a poignant moment where Caroline, reflecting on the looming court case, says: “I think I should make a documentary about all this! What do you think?”

Flack had lost her role as Love Island presenter while awaiting trial. The allegations stemmed from an argument with her partner, Lewis Burton, at her flat.

In 2023, the Metropolitan Police issued a reason to Flack’s family for failing to duly validate their decision to charge her with assault.

Originally, the Crown Prosecution Service recommended a caution, but the police appealed, resulting in the assault charge.

A spokesperson for the Met confirmed the apology followed an Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) review, which found no record explaining the appeal against the CPS decision.

The two-part documentary follows Christine as she revisits the final months of Caroline’s life. Both episodes are now streaming on Disney+.

Ahead of its release, Disney+ shared a poignant scene showing Christine visiting her daughter’s grave with family members.

She speaks directly to the camera: “I think Caroline would be pleased with what I’m doing. I wish I’d done it then, before she took her own life – and that’s my biggest regret, that I wasn’t shouting like this, then.”

She adds: “But now, I’ve got nothing to lose. The worst thing in the world happened with losing Carrie.”

A synopsis of the documentary reads: “After her arrest in 2019, she became the target of a relentless media storm. Vilified in the press and online, her world spiralled, ending in tragedy when she took her own life.

“This powerful two-part Disney+ documentary follows Caroline’s mother, Christine, as she investigates the truth about her daughter’s final months, uncovering new shocking details, asking difficult questions, and exposing the misrepresentations, pressures, and failures from institutions and decision makers that shaped Caroline’s final days.”
