Pop sensation Katy Perry and actor Orlando Bloom have officially ended their relationship, six years after getting engaged. The announcement was confirmed on Thursday by several major media outlets.
According to a joint statement cited by People and USA Today, the couple “have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on co-parenting” and remain committed to raising their daughter together.
The statement, released by representatives of both stars, added that their shared priority is to provide Daisy Dove Bloom with “love, stability, and mutual respect.”
The timing of the news follows recent speculation about their relationship status. Reports of a split intensified last week, just ahead of the high-profile wedding of billionaire Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez Bezos, where Bloom appeared solo.
Meanwhile, Perry is currently on an international tour. Despite requests, representatives for both Perry and Bloom have not responded to The Associated Press for further comment.
The pair’s romance began in 2016. They briefly parted ways in 2017, only to reunite soon after. Their engagement took place on Valentine’s Day in 2019, a moment Perry later shared during an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”
In 2020, they welcomed their daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom. The joyful announcement was made via UNICEF’s Instagram account, with both Perry and Bloom being goodwill ambassadors for the children’s organisation.
Bloom has a son named Flynn from his previous marriage to Australian model Miranda Kerr. Flynn was born in 2011. For Perry, Daisy is her first and only child.
The singer, whose full name is Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, was formerly married to comedian Russell Brand.
Perry, born and raised in California, has made a significant mark on the pop music landscape. A 13-time Grammy nominee, she catapulted to fame in the 2000s with her bold and colourful anthems.
Her 2010 album “Teenage Dream” produced five number-one singles, tying a record previously held by Michael Jackson’s 1987 classic, “Bad.”
Orlando Bloom, originally from Canterbury, England, gained international fame through his portrayal of Legolas in “The Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit” trilogies. He also played Will Turner in the blockbuster “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise.
Though their romantic journey has come to a close, both stars remain united in their commitment to raising their daughter and maintaining a respectful relationship moving forward.
