Two men in their twenties have been hospitalised following a violent altercation that broke out in the early hours of Thursday morning in East London.

Emergency services were called to Arboretum Place, Barking, shortly after 1am on 26 June after receiving reports of a disturbance.

Upon arrival, officers found one man suffering from head injuries. He was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to the hospital. His injuries have been confirmed as neither life-threatening nor life-changing.

Meanwhile, a second man, also in his twenties, arrived at a London hospital independently, having sustained stab wounds. He is currently in a stable condition, and his injuries are not considered to be life-threatening or life-changing either.

A cordon was established at the scene along London Road and Ripple Road as police launched an investigation into the incident. The area has since been reopened, although enquiries remain ongoing.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police Service stated: “Police were called at 01:06hrs on Thursday, 26 June to Arboretum Place, Barking, to reports of an altercation.

Officers arrived and found a man, in his 20s, with head injuries, who was taken to the hospital by paramedics. His condition is not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

“A second man in his 20s self-presented at a London hospital with stab injuries. His condition is stable, and the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

“Enquiries are ongoing. A crime scene was put in place on London Road/Ripple Road, Barking, in relation to this incident. It has since been closed.”

Local authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist with the investigation.
