In the early hours of Tuesday, Kyiv faced what President Volodymyr Zelensky described as one of the largest drone attacks ever seen. The Russia drone attack Kyiv campaign unleashed 315 UAVs overnight, devastating several parts of the city.

Drone strikes battered seven districts. High-rise blocks, family homes, vehicles and warehouses went up in flames, local official Tymur Tkachenko reported. He called it “a tough night for all of us.” The Russia drone attack Kyiv also wounded four people, confirmed Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko.

“Today was one of the largest attacks on Kyiv,” Zelensky said on X. He added that the drone and missile strikes drowned out global efforts to pressure Moscow into making peace.

Air raid sirens wailed for hours. Regular explosions echoed throughout Kyiv. Rail-mounted air defences operated ceaselessly in the city centre, a CNN producer observed.

The Russia drone attack Kyiv reverberated south. In Odesa, at least two men were killed and nine injured, according to the regional Prosecutor’s Office. A Russian strike hit a maternity ward, said Presidential Chief of Staff Andriy Yermak. Reuters footage showed hospital staff sweeping glass from the scene.

A 78-year-old local, Violetta, described it as “a terrible night.” She added: “My garage with my car is destroyed… We’ve had a terrible time. Thank God I’m not hurt.” She narrowly escaped as her roof collapsed.

A 60‑year‑old resident, Lyudmila, recounted the auditory trauma: “It’s very scary because it’s close by. Drones were flying around all the time, banging and banging… it’s very hard mentally.”

Ukraine’s Air Force stated that, in addition to drones, Russia fired two KN-23 ballistic missiles and five Iskander‑K cruise missiles overnight.

This latest surge caps a brutal pattern. Just one night earlier, Moscow launched 479 UAVs—its largest drone assault on Ukraine—marking consecutive weekends of unprecedented aerial bombardment.

Summary of recent strikes

Key points of the Russia drone attack Kyiv assault:

  • 315 drones over Kyiv overnight
  • Damage to seven city districts: homes, high‑rises, vehicles
  • Four people were wounded in Kyiv
  • In Odesa, two killed, nine wounded
  • The maternity ward struck
  • Use of KN‑23 and Iskander‑K missiles
  • Following a 479‑drone attack the previous night

This Russia drone attack Kyiv marks a grim escalation in UAV warfare, with civilian centres and essential infrastructure under repeated threat. Tensions remain high across Ukraine as air defences strain to counter a growing aerial onslaught.
