“A vehicle carrying vegetables that happened to be passing by at the time of the strikes was hit, killing one person and wounding another,” reported Hezbollah’s Al-Manar TV.
The Health Ministry confirmed that the fatality was a Syrian citizen. Among the injured were another Syrian national and six Lebanese, including two women.
Israel’s military defended the attack, claiming the target was a storage site for machinery intended to aid Hezbollah’s rebuilding efforts.
The Israeli Defence Forces( IDF) purport that Hezbollah is trying to restore its capabilities after heavy losses during the recent war.
Since the 14-month conflict between Israel and Hezbollah concluded in November with a U.S.-brokered ceasefire, Israel has maintained near- diurnal airstrikes in the area, resulting in dozens of casualties.
Before this month, the U.N. moral rights chief, Volker Türk, prompted renewed action to secure an enduring peace in Lebanon.
He noted that until the end of September, at least 103 civilians had been killed in Lebanon since the ceasefire.
The most recent Israel-Hezbollah war, which erupted in late 2024, resulted in over 4,000 deaths in Lebanon, including hundreds of civilians, and caused roughly$ 11 billion in damages, according to the World Bank. Israel suffered 127 losses, including 80 dogfaces.
The conflict broke out on 8 October 2023 when Hezbollah launched rockets into Israel, a day after a deadly Hamas-led incursion into southern Israel sparked the Gaza conflict.
Israel redressed with shelling and airstrikes in Lebanon, escalating into a full-scale war by late September 2024.
Israel strikes continue to stir pressures along the Lebanon-Israel border, raising fears of further insecurity in the region.
