Before settling into the interview, Cowell was introduced to the show’s hand” Spirit Lair,” a lively, confidential tradition where crew members line a corridor, singing and clapping to welcome the guest. As Cowell made his way through, his clapping was anything but ordinary.

Despite the online reactions, Cowell took the experience in stride. “I absolutely loved that,” he said during the interview. “When they told me about it, it is seriously the best way of coming onto a show, seriously, do you mind if I steal it for AGT?”
