Dundalk’s Kate O’Connor Clocks Personal Best in Tokyo
Irish athlete Kate O’Connor has delivered a name performance at the World Athletics Crowns in Tokyo, setting a new personal stylish in the 100 metres hurdles.
The Dundalk star finished fourth in her group A, crossing the line in 13.44 seconds, the fastest she has ever run the distance.
“Kate O’Connor has set a new personal best in the 100-metre hurdles event in the Pentathlon at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo,” officials confirmed.
Kate O’Connor has just cleared 1.86m in the High Jump, producing another lifetime best, to place 4th in Group A and add 1054 points to her Heptathlon total

The result not only secured her a top-three finish in the race but also underscored her rising form on the global stage.
Presently, O’Connor has turned her attention to the high jump, the coming challenge in the Pentathlon line-up.
With her strong launch, expectations are high that she can continue to push through with instigation.
Elsewhere, British middle-distance star Keely Hodgkinson is targeting her first world title in Tokyo, adding further excitement to what is already shaping up to be a thrilling Championships.
It’s a busy day for Irish calisthenics in Tokyo. Brian Fay is due to contend in Heat 1 of the 5000 metres, while Andrew Coscoran and Darragh McElhinney will line up in Heat 2.
