US Open 2025: Jannik Sinner Storms Into Quarter-Finals With Ruthless Victory Over Alexander Bublik
Jannik Sinner continues to dominate the hard courts at Flushing Meadows, cruising into the quarter-finals of the US Open 2025 after dismantling Kazakhstan’s Alexander Bublik in just over an hour.
The Italian World No. 1 looked untouchable under the lights of Arthur Ashe Stadium, dispatching the 23rd seed 6-1, 6-1, 6-1 in a performance that bordered on merciless.

After his earlier scare against Denis Shapovalov, where he was forced to dig deep from a set down, Sinner came out sharp and clinical.
He tore through Bublik’s famed serving game, breaking eight times and surrendering just a single break point in the entire contest. It wasn’t just efficient. It was devastating.
The match clock stopped at 1 hour 21 minutes, the second-shortest men’s singles encounter of the tournament so far.
The scoreline equalled Sinner’s most dominant Grand Slam win to date, reminiscent of his demolition of Jiri Lehecka at Roland Garros earlier this year.
Bublik arrived with momentum, fresh from a five-set epic against American Tommy Paul.
His variety, booming serves mixed with teasing drop shots, had carried him to three ATP titles this season. But against Sinner, none of his tricks landed.
The Kazakhstani even tried an underarm serve late on, drawing a few laughs from the crowd. Still, he walked off smiling, well aware that he had been outclassed by a player operating on a completely different level.
What makes this triumph even more enticing is what lies ahead. Sinner will face compatriot Lorenzo Musetti in the quarter-finals, marking the first-ever all-Italian men’s singles clash at a Grand Slam.
Sinner leads Musetti 2-0 in their Lexus ATP Head2Head and has now stretched his record against Bublik to 5-2 overall. Yet the occasion promises more than numbers, it’s a slice of Italian sporting history.
At just 23, Sinner has become the youngest man since Rafael Nadal in 2008 to collect 24 Grand Slam match victories in a single season.

On the women’s side, Marketa Vondrousova stunned Elena Rybakina to book her own place in the last eight, proving once again how unpredictable this year’s draw has become.
It’s another landmark in a year that’s already been stacked with milestones.
And the stakes remain high. Not only is the defending champion chasing another US Open crown, but he’s also fighting to keep hold of his World No. 1 spot, with Carlos Alcaraz breathing down his neck in the ATP Rankings.
