A man has been arrested following a fatal crash that claimed the life of a cyclist in Worcester during the early hours of Sunday morning.
Emergency services were called shortly after 5am to reports of a collision involving a white and blue Dacia and a cyclist on the A38, near the Copcut Elm Pub, heading towards Droitwich.
The cyclist, believed to be in his thirties, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the car, a 51-year-old man, has since been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He remains in police custody.

West Mercia Police are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and are urging anyone who may have seen the incident or the vehicles involved prior to the collision to get in touch.
Sergeant Darryn Van-Rooyen from the Roads Policing team said: “Our thoughts are with the man’s family following this morning’s collision. We’re currently carrying out a number of enquiries and are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or who may have seen either the bicycle or the car beforehand.”
Officers are particularly interested in hearing from anyone with dashcam footage, CCTV, or first-hand accounts from the area at the time of the incident.
