A heartbreaking tragedy has shaken a South-East London community after a toddler died following a fall from height in Forest Hill.
Emergency services rushed to Wynell Road, SE23, just after midday on Sunday, 18 May, responding to reports that a child had fallen from a significant height. The two-year-old boy was quickly treated at the scene by paramedics from the London Ambulance Service before being taken to the hospital.
Despite intensive efforts by medical staff, he sadly could not be saved.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police confirmed: “On Sunday, 18 May at 12:17hrs, police were called to Wynell Road, SE23, following reports that a child had fallen from height.
Met officers attended the scene alongside paramedics from the London Ambulance Service, who treated a 2-year-old boy at the scene before taking him to the hospital. Sadly, despite the best efforts of the medical staff, he later died in the hospital.”
The boy’s family is now being supported by specially trained officers during what can only be described as an unimaginably difficult time.
The Metropolitan Police have launched an investigation into the incident. So far, the child’s death is being treated as unexpected, but no arrests have been made.
Enquiries remain ongoing as officers work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the tragic fall.
