Thieves Make Off With Five High-End Off-Road Bikes in Sion Mills Heist

Five off-road motorbikes and a quad bike, said to be of high value, were stolen during a weekend burglary at a business in Co. Tyrone.

A break-in took place at Jet Products on Melmount Road, Sion Mills, during which the vehicles are thought to have been stolen between Saturday night and early Sunday morning.

“While the incident was reported to police just before 6pm on Sunday evening (August 31), it’s believed the theft occurred sometime over the weekend, possibly during Saturday evening into Sunday morning,” the PSNI said in a statement released this week.

What Was Stolen?

The stolen items are:

  • Three Yamaha YZ250 two-stroke motorbikes (two of them being blue)
  • A blue Yamaha WR250F
  • A blue Yamaha TTR110
  • A blue Yamaha 700 Kodiac quad bike

“It is reported that, in all, five off-road motorcycles were taken – three Yamaha YZ250 two-stroke bikes, two of which are blue, a blue Yamaha WR250F and a blue Yamaha TTR110, and a blue Yamaha 700 Kodiac quad bike,” they said.

The value of the stolen vehicles is considered to be substantial, as these models of bikes tend to cost in the thousands.

Authorities indicate the operation could have taken considerable time and equipment, perhaps requiring a trailer or large truck to get rid of and move the bikes off the premises.

“Anyone with information, or who saw any suspicious activity in the area in recent days – including any vehicles, is asked to call police on 101.

Police are also asking anyone who is offered these types of machines for sale in suspicious circumstances to contact them. The number to ring is 101, quoting reference 1130 of 31/08/25,” they added.

A brazen weekend break-in at a Sion Mills company has left a trail of questions and five luxury off-road vehicles stolen. With police now issuing an appeal for witnesses and warning of vigilance regarding suspicious sales, the public is being urged to assist in bringing those responsible for the theft to justice.

It is not the first time rural businesses in the area have been hit. The theft is part of wider fears regarding organised groups stealing off-road equipment of value.

Residents are being urged to remain vigilant and have properties and vehicles made secure, particularly business premises with valuable stock.

With off-road motorcycles being in high demand for both legal motorsports and illegal street racing, stolen bikes can be easily relocated or sold for parts.

Police suspect the burglars will try to dispose of the stolen bicycles rapidly and have advised the public to be suspicious of very low prices or cash-only sales.

The PSNI still appeals to anyone who might have noticed anything out of the ordinary over the weekend in the area around Sion Mills, specifically on or in the vicinity of Melmount Road.

Every detail, however insignificant it might be, might assist in identifying the culprits and recovering the stolen bicycles.
