Londoners are in for a tricky weekend of travel as several TfL lines face closures and partial dormancies from Saturday, 15 November to Sunday, 16 November.

The workshop, carried out by Transport for London and Network Rail, will affect the London Underground, London Overground, DLR, and the Elizabeth line, bringing a blend of delays, diversions, and rail relief services.

For numerous passengers, especially those in North and West London, it could mean longer peregrinations and some unanticipated divergences.

Areas similar to Hillingdon, Ealing, Harrow, and Camden will feel the impact most, with a number of crucial stations temporarily shut.

Travelers heading to Heathrow Airport should also take note, as a major reduction in services could make field transfers slower than usual.

Indeed, though indispensable routes and relief motorcars will be available, this kind of weekend transport dislocation can catch people off guard.

To help you plan ahead, here’s a complete rundown of every TfL check, plus advice on the stylish ways to get around.

Recent issues with some of the newer DLR trains have also added to the pressure on the network, which has pulled back the launch of new DLR trains.

London Underground Closures

Metropolitan line

Saturday 15 – Sunday 16 November

“No service between Harrow-on-the-Hill and Uxbridge due to maintenance work.” Anyone travelling between these stations is advised to use other Tube lines or original/ relief motorcars. Anticipate slightly longer trip times.

Piccadilly line

Saturday 15 – Sunday 16 November

“No service between Acton Town and Uxbridge due to maintenance work.” Passengers can switch to indispensable Tube options or use original machine routes. This check affects a major commuter stretch, so plan ahead if you are heading west.

London Overground Closures

Mildmay line

Saturday 15 – Sunday 16 November

“No service between Gospel Oak and Richmond/Shepherd’s Bush due to Network Rail maintenance work.”

Sunday 16 November

“No service between Camden Road and Stratford after 10.15pm due to Network Rail maintenance work.” For both closures, calculate on original motorcars, Tube connections, or relief services. Evening trippers should anticipate busier routes and slightly longer delays.

Windrush line

Sunday 16 November

“No service between Surrey Quays and Clapham Junction due to Network Rail maintenance work.” Rail replacement buses will operate between Canada Water and Clapham Junction.

Also on Sunday 16 November, there will be: “No service between Highbury & Islington and Dalston Junction after 10.15pm due to Network Rail maintenance work.” Passengers should check alternative Overground routes or use local buses.

DLR Closures

Canning Town – Stratford International

DLR Train

Saturday 15 – Sunday 16 November

“No service between Canning Town and Stratford International due to maintenance work.” Travellers are encouraged to switch to the Jubilee line, which will run as normal.

Elizabeth Line Closures

Paddington – Abbey Wood/Stratford

Saturday 15 – Sunday 16 November

“No service between Paddington and Abbey Wood/Stratford.” Use the Tube, local buses, or alternative rail routes through Central London.

Hayes & Harlington – Heathrow Airport

Saturday 15 – Sunday 16 November

“No service between Hayes & Harlington and Heathrow Airport. A reduced service will run between Paddington and Maidenhead only.”

Anyone heading to Heathrow Airport should use the Piccadilly line, which will operate normally throughout the weekend.

What does this mean for Londoners?

Whether you are exchanging, heading to the shops, or planning a day out, it’s worth checking your route before setting off.

Weekend engineering workshops are nothing new in London, but with so many closures, delays are nearly guaranteed.

Rail relief motorcars, Tube diversions, and indispensable trip options will help keep people moving, but some peregrinations, especially in West London and towards Heathrow, could take noticeably longer than usual.

For real-time updates, passengers can check TfL’s trip cautions, use trip diary apps, or follow TfL on social media.
