Full List of London Underground Lines and TfL Services Closing in September 2025
September is shaping up to be one of the most challenging months for London commuters in 2025. Transport for London (TfL) has confirmed a long list of maintenance works across the London Underground lines, the Elizabeth line, DLR, and London Overground.
Weekend works, late-night suspensions, and industrial action mean that passengers will need to plan ahead. The closures will affect not only central London but also key commuter routes into the capital.
A TfL spokesperson said: “The TfL journey planner is a useful resource for passengers to plan their journeys around any disruptions.”

Industrial Action in September
Strikes by the Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union are set to cause additional chaos:
- 7–11 Sept: London Underground and DLR heavily disrupted, with little to no service.
- Any trains running will only start after 8am.
- 8 & 11 Sept: DLR services suspended entirely.
- The Elizabeth line, Overground, and trams will operate but are expected to be overcrowded.
Travellers can also check the latest updates on the severe London Tube strikes planned for 7–11 September for a clearer idea of how services will be affected.
September will test the patience of London’s commuters. With strikes, maintenance, and overlapping closures across the network, journeys will take longer. Key advice from TfL is to plan ahead, use live travel updates, and allow plenty of extra time.
For some, walking or cycling may be quicker. Others may have no choice but to squeeze into packed Elizabeth line and Overground trains.
