A grand tribute in Birmingham is reportedly in the works to honour the Prince of Darkness, while the family prepares for a private farewell.
Plans are reportedly underway for a public celebration of Ozzy Osbourne’s life in his beloved hometown of Birmingham, just days after the iconic musician’s death at the age of 76.
The heavy metal legend, who skyrocketed to fame with Black Sabbath, died peacefully surrounded by his family, according to a statement released by his wife Sharon Osbourne and their children. His passing has sparked a massive wave of tributes from fans and fellow musicians across the world.
In the wake of his death, Birmingham has already begun to pay homage to one of its most influential sons. Floral tributes and personal messages have been placed at the Black Sabbath Bridge—an area long linked to Ozzy and his legendary band.
His recent farewell show, Back to the Beginning, held earlier this month in the city, now holds even deeper significance. Fans gathered once more at the symbolic bridge, creating a poignant memorial in his honour.
Tributes began pouring in shortly after the news broke that Ozzy Osbourne had died aged 76, with fans and artists worldwide honouring the rock icon’s immense influence on music and culture.
While the Osbourne family prepares for a private funeral service, insiders suggest a larger, star-studded celebration of Ozzy’s life is being planned in Birmingham. The event is expected to attract thousands.
Yungblud, 27, who joined Ozzy at his farewell show and had formed a close bond with the rock icon, is believed to be among those set to participate in the tribute.
A source told The Sun: “There are conversations about a celebration of his life in Birmingham, the city that meant so much to him. Artists like Yungblud, who was seen by Ozzy as a musician who could carry on the mantle of what he started all those years ago, is expected to have a role in it.”
They continued: “There are hundreds of big names who will want to pay their respects and celebrate his life and legacy, as well as thousands of fans who would line the streets to say goodbye.”
In their emotional statement, Sharon Osbourne and the children—Louis, Aimee, Jack, and Kelly—shared the devastating news with fans worldwide: “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning.
He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time. Sharon, Jack, Kelly, Aimee and Louis.”
The message was met with an outpouring of love, with tributes flooding social media.
One of the most heartfelt tributes came from Yungblud, real name Dominic Harrison, who honoured Ozzy in a touching Instagram post: “I didn’t think you would leave so soon the last time we met you were so full of life and your laugh filled up the room. But as it is written with legends, they seem to know the things that we don’t.
I will never forget you – you will be in every single note I sing and with me every single time I walk on stage. Your cross around my neck is the most precious thing I own. You asked me once if there was anything you could do for me and as I said then and as I will say now for all of us the music was enough.
You took us on your adventure – an adventure that started it all. I am truly heartbroken. You were the greatest of all time.”

Though his voice may be silent, Ozzy’s music continues to roar through generations. With fans eager to gather and say their final goodbyes, Birmingham could soon host one of the most memorable musical memorials the UK has ever seen.
A date for the public celebration is yet to be confirmed. However, for many, the grieving has already begun—and so too has the remembrance of a man whose sound defined an era.
