Nottingham Forest are back in Premier League action this autumn as Sean Dyche’s Reds make the trip to Anfield to face Liverpool (3 pm kick-off).
After their first league win under Dyche, a 3- 1 win over Leeds United before the international break, Timber are looking to make an instigation.
While the palm was a boost, timber remains in the deportation zone. Climbing the table will bear a string of positive results, but Dyche faces a selection headache with a number of crucial players out or nursing injuries.
Then there’s a detailed look at the Nottingham Forest injury updates ahead of the moment’s clash.
Callum Hudson-Odoi – Dead Leg
Hudson-Odoi was substituted late in the 2-2 draw with Manchester United before this month and has been absent since. Dyche says he’s expected to feature at Anfield.
“Callum Hudson-Odoi has made good progress. He’s been on the grass with us this week, so he is certainly in consideration to be in the squad, which is better news,” Dyche revealed.
“He feels pretty good and has done some good work reinforcing his base injury strength and fitness.”
Douglas Luiz – Hamstring
The midfielder left the pitch early against United with a hamstring problem, a recurring issue following a previous injury against Real Betis.
Dyche confirmed: “Douglas Luiz is making progress, but he is going to be a matter of time. It is not going to be instant.”
Angus Gunn – Knee
Forest’s third-choice goalkeeper is still recovering from knee ligament damage. Dyche added: “Angus Gunn is still recovering from a knee injury – it is sort of straightforward but is going to take a bit of time.”
Oleksandr Zinchenko – Groin
The Arsenal loanee went off injured in the Europa League win over Porto and has not played since. Dyche commented: “Oleksandr Zinchenko is making progress with the sports science team and the physios, not with us.”
Chris Wood – Knee
Wood has been managing a knee issue since international duty with New Zealand. Dyche updated: “Chris Wood is getting re-scanned, so we are checking up on that.
But it is good news so far. It is just a settling period, it is nothing too serious… He is feeling good in himself, which is always a good sign.”
Dilane Bakwa – Unknown
Bakwa hasn’t featured since coming off the bench against Newcastle United. Dyche explained: “Dilane Bakwa is making good progress. He is on the grass but not with us; he is with the medical staff and sport science staff.”
Taiwo Awoniyi – Unknown
Awoniyi impressed off the bench against Leeds but has since picked up a minor issue. Dyche said, “I thought Taiwo did really well when he came on. Unfortunately, he has now picked up a bit of an injury, and we will see how that settles down.”
Ola Aina – Hamstring
Aina is anticipated to be sidelined until at least the new time following hamstring surgery after sustaining an injury with Nigeria in September. Dyche verified he’s back on the lawn but still under medical supervision.
Aaron Bott – Unknown
The young goalkeeper is a long-term absentee. Dyche said: “Young keeper Aaron Bott is making progress, but it’s a longer-term project. We have still got a bit of a list.”
As Nottingham Forest prepare for the tough Premier League test at Anfield, the injury list remains a concern for Dyche. With crucial players returning to training while others are still sidelined, platoon selection will be pivotal.
suckers will be hoping for a competitive caching despite the challenges, as the Reds aim to make on their first palm and climb out of the deportation zone.
