Londoners, take note! Transport for London( TfL) has announced a series of planned London Underground and Overground closures this weekend.

From Friday, December 5, through Sunday, December 7, some stations and services will be completely or completely closed for essential conservation.

Whether you’re exchanging, heading out for a weekend adventure, or catching up with musketeers, it’s worth checking these updates to avoid last- nanosecond detainments. Use the TfL app or website for real-time trip information and service updates.

Friday, December 5

  • Lioness: The 05:29 train from Watford Junction to Euston will start from Willesden Junction at 06:04.
  • Mildmay: No southbound service from Willesden Junction to Shepherd’s Bush until 06:15.
  • Suffragette: The 05:48 train from Barking Riverside to Gospel Oak and the 06:24 train from Gospel Oak to Barking Riverside will not run.
  • Cutty Sark: Closed until spring 2026 while all four escalators are replaced. Use the Greenwich DLR for alternative travel.

This means early-morning commuters on these routes will need to plan ahead and consider alternative lines or bus services.

Saturday, December 6 – Sunday, December 7 Weekend Closures

Metropolitan Line: No service between Harrow-on-the-Hill and Uxbridge.
Northern Line:

  • Between 01:45 and 05:30, no trains between Charing Cross and Golders Green / High Barnet.
  • After 05:30, no service between Archway and High Barnet / Mill Hill East.
    Piccadilly Line: No service between Acton Town and Uxbridge.
    Waterloo & City Line: Service runs Monday to Friday only, 06:00 – 00:30. No weekend trains.
    Cutty Sark: Remains closed until spring 2026 – use Greenwich DLR.

Weekend trippers should note that London Tube closures will affect popular commuter and rest routes, so allow redundant time for peregrinations.

Sunday, December 7 Specific Service Disruptions

  • DLR: No service between Shadwell and Tower Gateway.
  • Elizabeth Line: Until 07:40, no trains between Paddington and Ealing Broadway.
  • Suffragette: Until 12:30, no trains between South Tottenham and Barking Riverside.

These changes are part of TfL’s ongoing maintenance work to improve the Underground and Overground network, ensuring safer and more reliable travel for everyone.

Tips for Travelling During TfL Closures

  1. Plan ahead: Check TfL’s live updates before you leave.
  2. Alternative routes: Consider buses, DLR, or nearby Tube lines where possible.
  3. Allow extra time: Peak hours may see increased congestion due to closures.
