IndiGo to Launch Direct Mumbai – Heathrow Flights from 26 October
India’s largest airline, IndiGo, is set to connect Mumbai directly with London Heathrow through direct non-stop flights beginning 26 October 2025.
This expansion marks IndiGo’s alternate UK destination after Manchester and represents another milestone in its ongoing transnational growth strategy.
The new route will be operated using Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, leased from Norse Atlantic Airways, and will feature a dual-class layout, Economy and the premium IndiGoStretch.
Travellers in both cabins will enjoy complimentary hot meals and non-alcoholic beverages, while alcoholic drinks will be available for purchase in Economy and complimentary for IndiGoStretch customers.
Each seat will come with a personal entertainment screen offering nearly 300 hours of movies, music, and TV shows.
Bookings are now open on IndiGo’s website, mobile app, and via authorised travel partners.
IndiGo’s Chief Executive Officer, Pieter Elbers, called the new route a defining milestone for the airline: “Entering Heathrow, a key global hub known for its scale and connectivity, is both a proud milestone and a strategic step forward in strengthening IndiGo’s global footprint.
The India-United Kingdom corridor has long held significant relevance, not only because of strong bilateral ties, but also due to the growing traffic between the two countries driven by students, visiting friends and relatives, business and leisure travellers.
After the outstanding response to our long-haul debut flights to Manchester, we are excited to set foot in London, offering more travel options for our customers while reinforcing our commitment to provide seamless connectivity between India and the world.”
Heathrow’s management echoed this enthusiasm. Ross Baker, Chief Customer Officer at Heathrow, said: “We are pleased to welcome IndiGo’s new daily service between Mumbai and Heathrow.
As the UK’s international gateway, this new route will further strengthen the vital ties between the UK and India, creating opportunities for trade, tourism and cultural exchange.
We look forward to supporting IndiGo’s international growth while offering passengers more choice when travelling between these two world-class cities.”

It’ll also feed to the large Indian diaspora across Britain, offering more direct trip options for families, scholars, and professionals.
The connection is anticipated to boost two- way trip demand, ameliorate business links, and strengthen artistic ties between the two nations.
Since 2015, IndiGo has expanded fleetly beyond India’s borders, adding close to 40 transnational destinations, nearly half of which were launched in the once three times.
After debuting long-haul routes to Manchester and Amsterdam earlier in 2025, and more recently to Copenhagen, the inclusion of London Heathrow now makes it the airline’s 45th international and 138th overall destination.
For British travellers, this service opens another direct gateway to India’s financial capital, at competitive fares but with a full-service experience on board.
For Indian flyers, it means easier access to one of the world’s busiest and most connected airports.
With its Heathrow debut, IndiGo steps into a new era of affordable long-haul connectivity, aiming to redefine how budget carriers operate across continents.
