Gideon Kodua Joins Luton Town on Loan: West Ham Youngster Heads to Kenilworth Road
West Ham United have announced that promising winger Gideon Kodua will spend the upcoming season on loan at Luton Town, a club competing in EFL League One. The deal includes an option for Luton to make the transfer permanent in the summer of 2026.
Born in Newham, London, Kodua’s journey with West Ham began at the tender age of 12 when he joined their renowned Academy of Football in 2017. After six years of development, he graduated from the academy, having captained the U18 side to notable successes.
His leadership was crucial as the youth team clinched the U18 Premier League South title in the 2022/23 season. He also left his mark by scoring in the FA Youth Cup final against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
His stats at West Ham’s youth levels are impressive. Kodua featured in 51 games for the U18s, netting 26 goals and providing 12 assists. He then progressed to the development squad, adding seven goals and two assists from 23 appearances.
Earlier this year, Kodua gained first-team experience on loan at Wycombe Wanderers in League One. His initial spell began in January 2024 and was extended for the entire 2024/25 season. Across his time with the Chairboys, he made 35 appearances and scored three goals.
West Ham expressed their full support for Kodua’s move: “Everyone at West Ham United wishes Gideon every success for his loan spell at Kenilworth Road.”
This move marks another important step in the young winger’s career, offering him the chance to shine in League One and develop further in a competitive environment.
