Elyh Harrison: Manchester United Youngster Joins Shrewsbury Town on Loan
Elyh Harrison has sealed a season-long loan move from Manchester United to Shrewsbury Town, marking another step forward in the young goalkeeper’s developing career.
The 19-year-old stopper, a regular for Manchester United’s Under-21 side, will now ply his trade in League Two, his first taste of EFL football. Though Harrison is still awaiting his senior debut at Old Trafford, his recent performances have not gone unnoticed.
Last term, he gained valuable experience on loan at Chester FC in the National League North. There, he made 18 appearances and caught the attention of several scouts, including those at Shrewsbury.
Speaking about the new arrival, the club’s director of football, Micky Moore, had high praise. “We think he’s got all the right characteristics and that this could be a very good loan for him,”
Moore told the club’s official website. “We’ve monitored his progress and feel he has a bright future.”
Harrison also boasts England Under-20 credentials, a sign of his growing reputation at national level.
This move is seen as mutually beneficial. For Shrewsbury, it’s a chance to sharpen their goalkeeping options. For Harrison, it’s a shot at proving he’s ready for more senior responsibilities.
The club is optimistic. So are the fans. United, meanwhile, will be watching closely as their young talent steps up to a more competitive level.
For now, Shrewsbury Town supporters can look forward to seeing a Red Devil between the sticks, at least for the 2025/26 season.
