A key road in Croydon has been shut this morning following what’s being described as a ‘police incident’. The closure is causing disruption for commuters travelling between South London and Surrey.
Old Farleigh Road, which links South Croydon to Warlingham, was closed off early this morning. Traffic service Inrix confirmed the road has been blocked in both directions since around 6am.
The service reported:
“Old Farleigh Road both directions at Addington Road. Police incident. Road blocked. Diversion in operation – for bus routes 64, 359, 412, 433.”
Locals first raised the alarm shortly after midnight. One X user posted at 12:26am:
“What is going on on old farleigh road?”
It’s not yet clear what exactly has happened. However, sources suggest the incident may have occurred near a car park.
The blocked stretch runs from the junction at Addington Road, close to the South Croydon and Selsdon area. Four bus routes are being diverted as a result, causing further travel disruption.
Authorities have been contacted. Both the Metropolitan Police and London Ambulance Service have yet to release official details.
For now, Croydon drivers are urged to find alternative routes. The situation is ongoing and updates are expected throughout the day.
