West End gears up for a glitzy summer as Burlesque the Musical finds its new creative force.
The much-anticipated Burlesque the Musical is all set to dazzle London’s West End this summer, with a fresh directorial vision and choreography to match. The musical will play a strictly limited run at the Savoy Theatre from 10 July to 6 September 2025, with an exclusive gala night planned for 22 July.
Todrick Hall Steps Up
Stepping into the spotlight as both director and choreographer is none other than Todrick Hall, who previously played Sean in the show’s original Manchester and Glasgow runs.
Hall expressed his excitement, stating: “This is a huge milestone in my life and career. I’ve always dreamt of being involved in the creative side of a brand new original musical, and I’m privileged, flattered and ecstatic to make my directorial debut with Burlesque the Musical!”
This dual role marks a bold new chapter for Hall, bringing his signature energy and creative flair to the West End.
A Star-Studded Legacy, Reinvented
The musical draws inspiration from the 2010 film of the same name, directed by Steve Antin. The film followed Ali Rose (Christina Aguilera), a small-town girl with big dreams, who discovers a fading burlesque lounge in Los Angeles owned by Tess (portrayed by Cher).
Now adapted for the stage by Antin himself, the musical retains the glitz and emotional punch of the original. The score boasts hit tracks by Aguilera, Sia and Diane Warren, with additional songs by Jess Folley and Todrick Hall, plus new material from Kate Wetherhead.
While excitement builds around Hall’s new leadership role, the full creative team and cast list are still being kept under wraps. More announcements are expected in the coming weeks.
What to Expect
Audiences can anticipate:
- A lavishly produced show filled with powerful vocals and dance
- A modern reinvention of a cult classic
- New songs that blend pop, soul, and theatrical flair
The original stage version made its debut last year in Manchester and Glasgow, receiving positive buzz. This West End transfer looks to elevate the production further, with Hall promising a bold, new vision.
With a celebrated performer stepping into the director’s chair and a cherished storyline coming to life on one of London’s most iconic stages, Burlesque the Musical is primed to be one of the West End’s hottest tickets this summer.
Tickets are expected to sell fast, so fans of dance, drama, and diva-worthy vocals, mark your calendars. July can’t come soon enough.
