Bagpuss to Return in New Film 50 Years After Debut

Bagpuss, the cherished children’s TV character, is set to make a return to the big screen in a new live-action and amped point film.

The film, which will serve as an effect to the original 13- occasion series, is listed for release in 2027.

The product is being developed by Birmingham-grounded Threewise Entertainment in close collaboration with the estates of the original generators, Peter Firmin and Oliver Postgate.

The original Bagpuss series, first aired in 1974, featured a pink and white cloth cat who lived in a shop that was a home for lost property.

Despite only 13 episodes produced for the BBC, the stop-motion series achieved classic status, voted the all-time favourite children’s programme in 1999.

The product has formerly entered investment from Creative UK via the West Midlands IP Fund, icing strong support for the design.
