Arsenal Push Ahead with Eberechi Eze Transfer Talks Following Nwaneri Contract Breakthrough
Arsenal are making moves — and they’re far from finished this summer.
Fresh off the back of sealing three signings, the Gunners are now working behind the scenes on two major pieces of business: Eberechi Eze and Ethan Nwaneri.
According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal are developing a strategic plan to sign Crystal Palace star Eze without triggering his £68 million release clause.
Instead, the club are leaning towards negotiating a more structured deal with Palace and Eze’s camp — a more financially palatable route that aligns with the club’s need to stay within the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules.
“Arsenal are still in contact with Eze’s representatives as they seek a solution,” Romano revealed on his YouTube channel.
Importantly, this pursuit won’t be impacted by the Gunners’ imminent capture of Noni Madueke. The Chelsea winger is set to become Arsenal’s fourth summer signing after agreeing to a five-year contract, with a deal reportedly worth around £50 million, including add-ons.
Still, Eze remains a priority. At 27, he’s entering his prime and has been consistently impressing at Selhurst Park. Arsenal view him as an ideal addition to strengthen their midfield creativity heading into the new campaign.
But will Crystal Palace budge on negotiations? That remains the sticking point.
Interestingly, while Arsenal push ahead with the Eze deal, they’ve also faced setbacks in other areas of the market. Reports suggest the club now regrets missing out on a £50m move for Benjamin Šeško as their interest in Viktor Gyökeres also appears to be stalling.
Elsewhere at the Emirates, Arsenal are closing in on securing the long-term future of one of their brightest young talents.
Romano has confirmed that the club have made solid progress in talks with Ethan Nwaneri’s representatives over a new deal. The 18-year-old has been the subject of interest from Chelsea, but Arsenal are confident a new contract is on the horizon.
“The Gunners have outlined a clear plan for Nwaneri within Mikel Arteta’s project, emphasizing their trust in his future role.” Romano added.
The Gunners are keen to lock down Nwaneri not only to fend off rivals but also as part of their wider commitment to developing homegrown talent. The youngster, who made headlines as a 15-year-old debutant, is seen as a cornerstone of the club’s future midfield.
Letting him slip to a direct competitor like Chelsea would have been unthinkable — both from a football and PR perspective. The club’s willingness to give him a defined role under Arteta signals serious intent.
With time still left in the window until the 1st of September, Arsenal’s strategy is coming into clear focus.
Sign the right players. Retain the right talents. Keep the books balanced.
The Madueke deal ticks the box for squad depth and attacking reinforcements. Eze would be a statement signing — a flair player with Premier League pedigree. And tying down Nwaneri? That’s a move for the future.
Expect more to come. The Gunners aren’t done just yet.
