Ange Postecoglou Set to Take the Helm at Nottingham Forest Following Nuno Espirito Santo’s Exit

Nottingham Forest is preparing for a fresh chapter. The Championship side is on the verge of appointing former Tottenham Hotspur director Ange Postecoglou as their new head coach, following the departure of Nuno Espirito Santo.

Postecoglou, who has been out of work since leaving Spurs in June, has reached an agreement with the Timber Scale.

Ange Postecoglou has been appointed as new Nottingham Forest head coach.

Contract approved now by lawyers on both sides as Postecoglou will sign deal until June 2027 at #NFFC.

The Australian tactician, famed for his attacking gospel and European birth, is anticipated to sign a contract that extends until the summer of 2027. The sanctioned advertisement could be made as early as Tuesday.

Forest’s next challenge comes fast. Postecoglou’s first assignment is set to be away against Arsenal on Saturday lunchtime.

It’s a tough nature, but one befitting his high-energy style of play. The club’s Greek proprietor, Evangelos Marinakis, has long respected the 60- time-old trainer.

Postecoglou’s Greek heritage aligns with Marinakis’s artistic connection, and their bond has roots deeper than football alone.

Back in July, Marinakis awarded Postecoglou a special accolade in Greece for being the first trainer of Greek descent to win a European title in the men’s game.

“Ange has spoken many times about Greece,” Marinakis remarked. “It is very important for a person to be proud and shout about their origins.

He achieved it with a team that was not winning titles and was struggling. With this success with Tottenham, he made Greece proud.

He is a very good coach and wherever he goes, he will make Greece proud.”

Postecoglou’s term at Spurs, still, was bittersweet. Though he ended the club’s jewel failure by leading them to Europa League glory, it came at the expense of league form, where Spurs finished a disappointing 17th .

His dismissal came shockingly only 16 days after their continental triumph.

The vacancy at Forest opened after Nuno Espirito Santo’s exit on Monday night.

The Portuguese coach, who had been handed a new deal in June after securing Forest’s first European qualification since 1995, fell out with Marinakis during the summer.

The formerly cordial relationship between Nuno and the club’s scale, particularly global head of football Edu Gaspar and the proprietor himself, began to fray.

In the weeks leading up to his departure, Nuno openly questioned the club’s transfer strategies and suggested disharmony.

He indeed remarked,” Where there is bank, there is fire,” when asked about his uncertain future at the club.

Nottingham Forest confirmed his exit in a statement: “Nottingham Forest Football Club confirms that, following recent circumstances, Nuno Espirito Santo has today been relieved of his duties as head coach.

The club thanks Nuno for his contribution during a very successful era at the City Ground, in particular his role in the 2024/25 season, which will forever be remembered fondly in the history of the club.

As someone who played a pivotal role in our success last season, he will always hold a special place in our journey.”

The cracks between Nuno and Marinakis became apparent in August. The Portuguese coach openly admitted, “I always had a very good relationship with the owner, last season was very close.

This season, not so well. No, it’s not [good]. I don’t know exactly, but I’m being honest with you. I cannot say that it is the same, because it’s not the same.

The reason behind it, I don’t know. I always believe that dialogue and what you say or your opinion is always valid, because my concern is the squad and the season that we have ahead of us, but our relations have changed.

The reality is that it is not what it used to be. What it used to be was a good, respectful relationship, but it was more based on trust and sharing opinions, and now it’s not so good.”

The dramatic coaching change marks a new phase for Nottingham Forest. With Postecoglou’s appearance, the club is laying on an educated leader able to revive their fortunes while tapping into a participatory artistic identity.

His European success and attacking mindset are seen as means that could shape the platoon’s coming chapter.

For fans and pundits alike, all eyes are now on how quickly Postecoglou can turn potential into performance, starting this weekend. The era of Postecoglou at Nottingham Forest is about to begin.
