Oasis Fans Warned as Heatwave Looms Over Manchester Reunion Gigs
Oasis are finally back on home turf. But fans heading to Heaton Park for the band’s much-hyped reunion this week are being warned — the weather might be as intense as the music.
As temperatures soar across the UK, with highs pushing 31°C in the north, those lucky enough to bag tickets for the sold-out Manchester shows are being urged to take precautions.
The legendary Britpop icons, reunited at long last, are playing five massive nights between 11 and 20 July. But along with the excitement comes a yellow heat health alert from national officials.
Event organisers aren’t taking chances.
“With a very hot weather forecast on both Friday and Saturday, please stay hydrated, you will be permitted to bring a sealed bottle of water up to 500ml. This must be collapsible plastic.”
“Solid plastic, metal, etc, containers will not be permitted on the grounds of safety. Bottles with broken seals will be emptied. There is free water to refill your bottle on site.”
That’s the message from promoters SJM, as issued through the Manchester Evening News.
“Wear sunscreen, you will be permitted to bring in a small bottle 200ml or under and protect yourself from the sun overall/wear a hat; we know the legendary bucket hat will be making an appearance, so you’ll fit right in! Look after yourself and those around you.”
It’s sound advice for the tens of thousands of fans expected to flood Heaton Park each night. With gates opening at 3pm and Oasis due on stage at 8.15pm sharp, the site will be packed during peak sunshine hours.
Joining the Gallaghers on stage are familiar faces: Gem Archer, Bonehead (Paul Arthurs), Andy Bell, and drummer Joey Waronker. The lineup reads like a Britpop dream, and early reviews suggest this is more than a nostalgia tour.
In Cardiff, where the tour kicked off, the atmosphere was electric. Critics raved. Fans cried. The band, tight as ever, reminded everyone why they once ruled the world.
“To a reviewer who saw Oasis both at Knebworth and on many a post-Nineties slogathon, this is the best they’ve been since ‘96. Some might say better.”
Support acts include Cast and Richard Ashcroft, each drawing their own fan bases and amping up the pre-show buzz.

Once the Manchester run wraps up, Oasis will head south for shows in London, then on to Edinburgh and Dublin. Later this year, the global leg takes off — North America, South America, Asia, and Australia. Wembley Stadium will host two more huge nights in September.
But right now, the spotlight is on Manchester.
Oasis are home. The fans are ready. The sun is blazing. And Heaton Park is about to become the centre of the music universe — bucket hats, anthems, and all.
