District Line Delays: London Underground Hit by Serious Track Incident

District line Disruption: Major Delays After a Casualty on the Track Sparks Chaos Across the TfL Network

Severe travel disruption struck parts of London’s Underground network this morning following a serious incident involving a casualty on the track.

The District line was among the worst affected, with significant delays hitting early commuters. The Hammersmith & City line was briefly suspended between Liverpool Street and Barking due to the incident, which occurred earlier in the morning. Services on the line have since resumed, but delays continue to ripple across the network.

“An earlier casualty on the track caused the Hammersmith & City line to close between Liverpool Street and Barking,” confirmed a TfL spokesperson.

The fallout didn’t stop there. The District line is experiencing severe delays, while Circle line services are running with minor disruptions. The Bakerloo and Jubilee lines have also been hit, along with sections of the Metropolitan line — particularly between Moor Park and Chesham, and between Amersham and Moor Park.

The full nature of the casualty hasn’t been disclosed, though emergency teams were reportedly deployed swiftly to the scene. The incident underscores the fragility of London’s transport flow during peak morning hours.

“Severe delays on the rest of the line,” TfL warned, urging passengers to allow extra travel time or consider alternate routes.

Commuters took to social media to express frustration, many highlighting overcrowded platforms and confusion over announcements. “Another day, another delay,” one user posted, summing up the mood for many relying on the Underground to get to work.

Transport for London has apologised for the disruption and assured the public that teams are working to restore regular service as soon as possible.
