London Murder Probe Launched After Elderly Man Found Dead in Streatham Home
A London murder investigation is underway after an 85-year-old man was tragically found dead in his home in south London.
Police were called just after 1pm on Friday to a property on Churchmore Road, Streatham, following reports of a man with severe injuries. Emergency crews rushed to the scene, but despite their efforts, the man could not be saved. He was pronounced dead on-site.
So far, the victim has not been formally identified.
A 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in police custody as inquiries continue.
A post-mortem examination will be carried out soon to determine the exact cause of death.
Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Lee, who is leading the case, urged people to come forward with any information that may assist the investigation.
She said:“We are working hard to piece together the events that unfolded in Churchmore Road yesterday, and offer our heartfelt condolences to the family of the victim and those affected by this tragic incident.”
“I would like to thank… those that are speaking to police and supporting the investigation already. We will continue to have an increased presence in the area whilst we continue our enquiries.”
“We are not currently looking for any other suspects.”
Police presence in the area has been stepped up to reassure residents while the investigation progresses.
